Treatments
Acne
Acne treatments include topical medications like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and retinoids, which help reduce inflammation, unclog pores, and decrease bacteria
Eczema
Eczema treatment focuses on managing symptoms like itching, redness, and inflammation through moisturizing creams, topical corticosteroids, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory creams
Pigmentation Disorders e.g. Vitiligo, Melasma
Treatment for pigmentation disorders, such as hyperpigmentation or vitiligo, typically involves topical creams like hydroquinone, retinoids, or corticosteroids to lighten dark spots or even skin tone.
Moles
Treatment for moles typically involves removal if they are suspicious, changing in appearance, or causing discomfort. Common removal methods include surgical excision, where the mole is cut out, or shave excision, which removes it from the surface
Skin Infections
Treatment for skin infections depends on the cause but typically involves topical or oral antibiotics for bacterial infections like impetigo or cellulitis. For fungal infections, antifungal creams or medications are used, while antiviral treatments may be prescribed for viral infections like herpes
Benign skin lesions
Treatments for benign skin lesions, such as moles, skin tags, or lipomas, typically involve minor procedures. Common treatments include cryotherapy (freezing), excision (surgical removal), laser therapy, or cauterization, depending on the lesion type and location
Hair and Scalp Conditions
Treatment for hair and scalp conditions varies depending on the issue but often includes medicated shampoos, topical treatments, and oral medications.
Psoriasis
Psoriasis treatment aims to reduce inflammation and slow skin cell turnover using topical treatments like corticosteroids, vitamin D analogs, and retinoids. In moderate to severe cases, oral medications, biologics, or phototherapy (UV light) may be prescribed to control immune system activity
Skin Cancers
Skin cancer treatment depends on the type and stage but often involves surgical removal, such as excision or Mohs surgery, to ensure all cancerous tissue is eliminated. Other treatments include cryotherapy (freezing), radiation therapy, topical medications, and immunotherapy for non-invasive cancers
Urticaria / Hives
The treatment for urticaria (hives) includes:
1. Antihistamines: First-line treatment to relieve itching and swelling (e.g., cetirizine, loratadine).
2. Corticosteroids: Short courses may be used for severe symptoms.
3. Avoiding Triggers: Identifying and avoiding known allergens or irritants.
4. Omalizumab: For chronic cases unresponsive to antihistamines.
